Brooks writes a funny article:

Gay marriage may not lead to men consorting with animals, but it has led to Republicans laying down with Democrats:

Well, both republicans and democrats may or may not support gay marriage based on
ReplyDeletereligion, I think the question is these two individuals are two high profile
attorneys at the near opposite end of politics.
I haven't had time to read the entire article. But note, there is a difference
between legal "marriage" and religious "marriage".
Many quote and quote conservatives, are really not smart and not thinking
straight when it comes to this topic . Why?
The want to interject politics into religion, which we all know, however people
don't know that they want religion to control their entire lives.
If the government allow or disallows something, it may be against your religion,
so are you going to cry the bulls horn and make a protest.
Can we imagine hindus, yelling and protesting in the United States because the
government allows beef, or muslims over pork. That may happen in other countries
where a single religion is a majority, but if your government allows something to
happen that doesn't affect your relationship and your religion.
The religious right wants to go much further, take a look at the Supreme Court
decisions from the 1960s and 1970s, contraception in many states was outlawed, in
many states they still had and have laws against opposite sex people sharing the
same apartment, or against adultery.
There was a few years again a case in Virginia where a man commited adultery , it
was against the law but as we all know adultey happens all the time, "Are you
cheating on me honey with the football coach".
It wasn't being prosecuted of course, but in a divorce proceding somebody try to
argue that the party who commited adultey shouldn't get certain rights and so on,
because adultey was a felony (19th century statue), of course that argument
failed I believe, but it shows you cannot take things for granted.
In New Mexico, an odd judge try to fine or intimidate a man for living with his
girlfriend due to cohabitation law. Now, back to the original talk about gay
marriage, in religion in particular let's say Christianity there are so many
other topics and morals and beliefs. This is true in any religion but religion is
between you and your Lord, now some people may argue you should speak out, but
here is where the hypocrisy is.
More on this later
